Phoenix Food – Yes please!

If you’re into some good eats, Phoenix is the place for you. As we talked about in out other post, there are hundreds of authentic restaurants that were started by people from other countries. We wanted to take the time out to dive into some of our favorite authentic restaurants in the Phoenix Valley, so without further ado here are our top picks.

  1. Chino Ban-dido

Chino Ban-dido is a restaurant with a unique menu. This restaurant was opened by a married couple, one being Mexican, the other being Asian. What do you get when you mix the two together? Some of the best Mexican-Asian fusion food in the entire state. To be clear, we’re not sure if there is another restaurant serving this type of food so they might take that label as the best without much competition, but we assure you that when you eat here you will be blown away. If we were to choose one favorite from their menu, our top pick would be their pork . The cool thing is that you can get rice, beans, or a quesadilla to go with the pork so there are plenty of different ways you can go about eating at this place. If you’re in north Phoenix, we highly recommend checking this awesome and authentic restaurant out.

2. Taco Guild

The Taco Guild is a restaurant that was built out of a beautiful old church. The old stain glassed windows are still in tact and give this restaurant a beautiful atmosphere to eat in. There is one day that is the absolute best in our opinion to eat here which is Sunday. We’re not sure if the lord himself inspired their decision to make Sundays all you can eat tacos with a margarita for $20, but whoever was the inspiration for this decision, we thank them. I was lucky enough to go here on a Sunday and put down 7 tacos. This may not seem like much, but when you couple in their all you can eat chips and salsa plus the margarita, I left there more full than I had been in a very long time. P.S. The pork tacos are to die for!

3. Windsor

Once again, if you can make it out to Windsor on a Sunday, you’ll be glad you did. This place is known for their brunch which takes place on Sundays until 1 pm. If you do make it for brunch, we highly recommend their eggs Benedict. I’m not a huge egg fan but wow, this place is doing things right. If you can’t make it for brunch they still do have an awesome menu with fish, burgers, and some great sandwiches. They have $5 pitchers of draft beer until 5 pm everyday which is just another awesome added bonus about this place.

We realize that there are thousands of restaurants in Phoenix and definitely don’t have time to cover them all in one post. We went ahead and picked out favorite restaurants that we know from experience that you will love. We hope you enjoyed reading this post, until next time! This awesome list of restaurants has been brought to you by Polystowing.com.

Diversity in Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix brings the concept of the “melting pot” to life with it’s cultural diversity. The United States is founded on this principle so we wanted to highlight the diversity of this city and share with you some of the awesome and diversified lifestyles you can find in Phoenix. From authentic Italian food made by a family that moved out here from Italy to a Moroccan nightclub founded by an individual that’s actually from Morocco, Phoenix has a little bit of everything.

We wanted to start off by saying that Phoenix definitely has some more upscale and exclusive neighborhoods. In fact, right downtown close to where they have First Friday off of Jefferson St. and 7th Ave., there is a neighborhood surrounded with mansions and picturesque landscaping. Literally 5 minutes down the road heading West, you’ll find a group of subsidized housing that is known as the “projects” in some other states. We wanted to point this out because some people that have more money and are considered upper class kind of shy away from Phoenix because of the rap it gets for criminal activity. This neighborhood that we just mentioned is actually one of the neighborhoods with the least amount of crime in the state so it’s probably not as bad as you may think.

Even though there are some upscale neighborhoods close to downtown Phoenix, we don’t want you to get the wrong picture that everything is peachy in the downtown area. While the more popular areas in and around Chase stadium in downtown Phoenix are very safe and heavily patrolled by police, once you start heading to the outskirts of downtown crime increases drastically. The reason for this is because of the huge drug cartels in Phoenix. Phoenix is one of the biggest drug hubs for the cartels smuggling drugs up from Mexico because it’s conveniently located about 2 hours north of the Mexican border. The drug runners bring the drugs up to the city than disperse them all over the country through various methods of transportation. With any drug trade comes violence which is what a lot of the Phoenix locals see on the news everyday. The good thing is that if you’re not in a cartel, you’re going to be able to avoid a lot of the crime and danger of being in such a city. The bad thing is that innocent bystanders are sometimes the victims of this cartel violence and while it’s sad to see, it’s just a part of the lifestyle of living in Phoenix.

Please don’t get discouraged! We just wanted to pain a vivid picture of the realities of living in this metropolitan city. Aside from the high amount of crime which is usually only targeted at people in rival cartels, Phoenix is still one of the most diverse and beautiful cities in the country. In the beginning of this post we mentioned unique Italian food and a unique Moroccan club. These are just some of the many authentic experiences you can have while visiting of living in Phoenix. People from all over the world with entrepreneurial spirits setup shop in the heart of Arizona with hopes of sharing their ideas and culture with the Western world. We feel blesses to be able to have such wide diversity where we live, and we hope you do to.

Phoenix Arizona – Booming Economy?

The population of Phoenix, Arizona residents has been on a steady rise over the past 10 years. Phoenix is now home to over 1.5 million people and none of the experts expect to see that number decrease anytime soon. In fact, there are some predictions that Phoenix will grow to over 2 million residents within the next 10 years! Why is the city of Phoenix growing so rapidly? Lets take a look at some of the factors contributing to it’s growth.

Cost of Living

The cost of living in Phoenix is relatively low for a city located on the western part of the United States. Our big neighbor to the left, California, is one of the most expensive states to reside in. It has one of the highest income taxes in the whole country and the median home prices are also some of the highest in the U.S. Many people get fed up with the high living expenses coupled with the horrible traffic in California and find themselves migrating to Arizona. One thing people worry about is the heat of the Arizona desert but in reality it’s only 4-5 months out of the year that that weather is too extreme to do much outside. For the other 7-8 months out of the year, we get some of the nicest weather in the entire world. We may not have a beach to go to but we certainly have a bunch of awesome lakes and water parks. If you’re worried about missing the beach too much you can take comfort in knowing that it’s only a short 5-6 hour drive away.

Modernized Living

Phoenix has one of he best traffic flows in the entire country and is rated the eighth best state for the shortest amount of time spent in traffic while commuting. On top of the awesome traffic flow, Phoenix also has some of the most modern forms of transportation since it implemented the light rail starting in 2006. The light rail runs from the east valley to the west valley making it extremely to get around the entire valley at an extremely affordable price. The light rail runs on electricity so it’s very energy efficient and is a very popular choice among Phoenix residents for transportation. College students that can’t afford to pay for parking are also loving it as it gives them a cheap alternative to parking their vehicles on campus.

Sports & Entertainment

Phoenix is home to a professional baseball, football, & hockey team (actually the football and hockey teams are located in Glendale, Arizona but it’s close enough!). On top of having awesome stadiums to enjoy sporting events at, Phoenix is also home to some of the best restaurants and night clubs in the entire world, but it doesn’t stop there. This city has an aquarium, zoo, convention center, and tons of other awesome stuff. With all these activities and events going on, there’s truly no shortage of things to do in Phoenix. Because of all the things we’ve mentioned in this article, Phoenix is a great place to live at an extremely affordable price. If you’re sick of where you live, consider Phoenix as a great alternative. If you’d like any additional information on living in Phoenix, please contact the Phoenix Homes & Lifestyle crew here.
